Lindsey Graham and John McCain say that that the war has "republican" stamped all over it. If the U.S. doesn't "win" it they will be out of power, and therefore, you should support them. Lindsey Graham prefers for more Iraqi civilians to die and for more Americans to die, than for his party to loose power. He deserves to be shut up!

For this Mr. Webb has been roundly criticized. And on reading the exchange I thought it had the sound of the rattling little aggressions of our day, but not on Mr. Webb's side. Imagine Lincoln saying, in such circumstances, "That's not what I asked you." Or JFK. Or Gerald Ford!
"That's not what I asked you" is a sentence straight from cable TV, from which many Americans are acquiring an attitude toward public and even private presentation.

Ironically South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham blurted out the truth:
"We’re playing yo-yo — political yo-yo — with people’s lives."
Graham has no shame for abusing our troops as roving targets in this asinine occupation when most Iraqis now approve of attacks on American troops.

Last week, Joe Lieberman was crushed when Gen. BetrayUs refused to embrace Lieberman's demand for war on Iran.
So did Lieberman show his respect for the Great General and give up? Absolutely not.
He called his warmongering Republican friends Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Norm Coleman (R-MN), and persuaded them to co-sponsor an amendment to put the entire Senate on record demanding war with Iran.
Jonathan Schwarz has the exact language:
(3) that it should be the policy of the United States to combat, contain, and roll back the violent activities and destabilizing influence inside Iraq of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its foreign facilitators such as Lebanese Hezbollah, and its indigenous Iraqi proxies;
(4) to support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.
Schwarz correctly adds:
If something like this passes both the House and Senate, I think Bush could legitimately argue that between it, the War Powers Act and the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations to Use Military Force, he has all the authority he needs to attack Iran.
SOUTH CAROLINA LEAGUE OF THE SOUTH
In defending President Bush's surge in his Sept. 18 column, Sen. Lindsey Graham made the following astonishing admission:"The old strategy gave us no chance to avoid defeat in Iraq."
In other words, the plan the Bush administration pursued from 2003 through 2006, the plan that Graham and other Republicans in the Congress unfailingly defended, "gave us no chance to avoid defeat."
Now Graham asks us to believe that the advocates of that doomed strategy have finally got it right, that now they have a plan for victory.

A call went out to attend this meeting and/or demonstrate for censure of Empire Senator Lindsey Graham (Republican, S.C.).

The Repub’s sound system was awful and it appeared they turned the volume down during critical discussion. They don’t even try to hide their mean tricks.
The place was packed. We were stunned when the Chairman announced there weren’t enough committeemen to make a quorum. What a weasel. He said there would be no voting on business tonight. And they didn’t.
The main attraction of this meeting was a Greenville-style resolution, censuring of Sen. Lindsey Graham. The resolution was read (volume turned down) and was “put into the minutes” but no vote was allowed. We know how the vote would have gone. It was obvious there were more people for censuring Graham than against. The Empire has got to stop the momentum of censuring their chosen ones. Things could get out of hand for them in a hurry. They had to do something to stop this vote and buy some more time.
I’m sure the resolution will be back.
Ron Paul supporters were there in larger than usual numbers. Tee shirts, stickers, signs and banners were all around.
There were people passing out “Dump Lindsey” bumper stickers. All the “dump Lindsey” folks and Ron Paul supporters were in a good mood. We had a good time.

There were four identifiable Graham supporters. The continual scowls on their faces told us their thoughts on the event. They didn’t like all the anti-Lindsey signs and talk. One fat Graham-cracker went around taking photos of all anti-Lindsey demonstrators. I suppose we will now be on the “No-Fly” list the goons keep.

There's unrest among the natives! But don't let their ranting and raving worry you none, old Belt-Ram has the party natives under control (I HOPE). Besides, Senor Gramnisty's got a wad of pesos that would choke a goat! So tell the Republican voters bigots to shut up!

Bush is not yet il Ducce, though he wants to be and very well, soon, may be. Should we respect his edicts? Should we obey them?
The following passage points out that Christian obedience is to God.
Remember that every apostle of Christ (except John) was killed by hostile civil authorities opposed to their endeavors. Christians throughout church history were imprisoned, tortured, or killed by civil authorities of all stripes for refusing to submit to their various laws and prohibitions. Did all of these Christian martyrs violate God’s principle of submission to authority?
Plus, Paul makes it clear that our submission to civil authority must be predicated on more than fear of governmental retaliation. Notice, he said, “Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.” Meaning, our obedience to civil authority is more than just “because they said so.” It is also a matter of conscience. This means we must think and reason for ourselves regarding the justness and rightness of our government’s laws.
Obedience is not automatic or robotic. It is a result of both rational
deliberation and moral approbation.
Therefore, there are times when civil authority may need to be resisted. Either governmental abuse of power or the violation of conscience (or both) could precipitate civil disobedience. Of course, how and when we decide to resist civil authority is an entirely separate issue. And I will reserve that discussion for another time.

"When I ran for president in 2000, I took a position I knew to be wrong on a controversial public issue that had a moral component because I thought it might help me win the primary in the state the issue concerned."
Here is what John McCain really means.
I lied - well actually, I was given bad advice (to lie).
I regret that I lied,because1. it didn't work ("did me little political good") and
2. it's wrong to lie ("caused me to be ashamed of myself").
John McCain isso self-critical, so self-revealing...so blinded by pride that his confession unintentionally revels a serious moral weakness. In lumping the moral failure of lying, together with the tactical failure of lying ineffectively, he reveals that, while claiming to regret having lied, what he truly regrets is that lying didn't pay off, further revealing, of course, that he is still...un...lying.. Furthermore, John McCain is so bloated with self-importance that he considers even his feigned shame to be newsworthy.
The following imaginary monologue attempts to reveal what McCain's faux contrition tries to attenuate. I hope I haven't been to lenient:
Liberal reporter: Senator McCain, while campaigning in South Carolina you stated that you considered that whatever flag they chose to fly, and wherever they chose to fly it, it was their own business and none of yours. Later you appeared to flip flop. How would you characterize your contradictory statements on this issue.
John McCain: I'm really sorry that I took your enemy's side instead of your side on this issue, even though I really believed that your side was the right side all along, because some people had told me that it would pay off if I lied to them, but it didn't pay off, and so, after that happened I went back to your enemy and told them that I had lied to them.
Liberal reporter: So, had your ploy succeeded in tricking our enemy into believing you to be their friend, resulting, as you intended, in their chosing you as their leader, what would you have said to us to make us realize that you were, in fact, not their friend, but ours?
John McCain: After I got their endorsement I would have become remorseful, and at least when talking to your people, I would have equivocated. You know what I mean.
Liberal reporter: But that didn't happen.
John McCain: No, after they rejected me I knew right away that they were wrong! And I told them this publicly so that you could hear me when I told them that I had lied to them and had never really been their friend at all, but their enemy instead, all along, and had always been on your side, really.
After that I was really ashamed of myself for pretending to be on the side of your enemies. And that's the truth."
Liberal reporter: Thank you Senator McCain.
